There’s nothing wrong with episodes that are unrelated cases–those are often refreshing (and in weirder circles are referred to as “Monster of the Week” episodes) but the Almost Human pilot promised me some sort of arc. Now, I’ll admit that robots and cyberpunk certainly makes a police procedural more watchable–at least for me–but once you throw in those robots and cyberpunk you get a completely different animal. The ultimate problem becomes that Fox has tried to straddle the line between extremely lucrative yet bland Police Procedural and Cult Sci-Fi show. If I’d known that I would have been less than glowing with my opinion of the way episodes were handled. Well, first off, I didn’t realize Almost Human was a short season show. You have been warned.)Īlmost Human, or: What do you mean that’s the Season Finale? (In which I am mean to a screenwriter and throw a few tantrums. It occurred to me about two days later to look up Jeffrey Bell. My review for this episode, written surprisingly easily within an hour of it airing, is disappointed, disgruntled, and generally less-than-thrilled (read that first: I’m nicer and mildly in my right mind.) I still stand by every word, but I find I have even more to say now, and it’s not exactly semi-formal review material.ĭuring livetweeting, someone said that they loved Jeff Bell because he had “done so much in twenty minutes.” This was at about the mark where I was staring blankly at my screen saying “…….nothing’s happened.” Was I an idiot? Had I missed something? Nothing had happened. This season, I write episode reviews of Supernatural and Agents of SHIELD for The Tracking Board. Twitter is not the best place for a verbose, excitable rambler like me. I know I’ve been 100% MIA from Tumblr for months on end, but I need the space and I feel like this is at least partially shielded (ha) from the celebrity culture of Twitter where I’ve been camped out lately. I have a TON to say about it and basically none of it is nice. I’ve now watched “What They Become” four times and I like it less every time.
